2019 BMW M2 Competition Review

2019 BMW M2 Competition Review

The M2 is one of BMW’s newer models, but that is not stopping them from replacing the original M2 with a faster, more powerful M2 Competition. The new M2 Competition packs 410hp, up from 370hp found in the current M2. BMW replaced the N55 engine with the S55, but still kept the 3.0 liter in-line six (found in the M3) however tuned down slightly for the M2 Competition. The car also gets an upgraded cooling system taken from the M3/M4 which is needed to keep the engine cool on hot days.

Buyers will have the option to choose between a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic version. The manual version can go from 0-100 km in 4.4 seconds while the dual-clutch box comes in at 4.2 seconds despite the extra 25 kilograms of weight added to the car. The M2 Competition has a limited top speed of 155 mph but that can be increased to 174 mph with the optional M Driver’s Pack, which will be very popular among BMW purists.

Inside the sportier M2, you will find all the typical luxuries and features commonly found in the BMW M-Models. For a second one might confuse the interior with an M3 or even M4. While pricing has not been released for the M2 Competition, you can expect it to come close to, or slightly higher than the $54,500 price tag found on the current BMW M2 for sale.
