Aston Martin DB4 GT Continuation Series

Aston Martin DB4 GT Continuation Series

The Aston Martin DB4 received much adoration on its debut at the 1958 London Motor Show. At the time it was the first production car claiming to have the capability of 0-100 mph in 21 seconds; that fact alone drove everyone wild. The range developed in succeeding years and eventually a GT version was added to the pleasure and excitement of many. The DB4 GT is currently one of the most prized Aston Martins ever produced. Thanks to the nostalgic leanings of Aston Martin Works, the DB4 GT is back for a limited continuation series of 25 cars.

Announced in December 2016 with promises to begin deliveries by the second half of this year, the DB4 GT continuation series has been highly anticipated and eagerly awaited. The continuation cars will come equipped with a 340-horsepower 3.7-litre straight-six engine and four speed manual that existed in the original eight factory lightweight models built between 1959 and 1963.

The continuation models, while still embodying the same classic feel of the era it stole everyone’s hearts, will benefit from the modern technologies in the way of improvements in engine performance, handling and braking and safety.

The VIN numbers will pick up after the last DB4 GT ordered (Chassis 0202R) for continuity and seamless connection between the past and the present. Also in keeping with the DB4 GT heritage is the preparation of the continuation series for the track; reminiscent of days gone where racing icons like Sterling Moss shot to victory on its debut at Silverstone.

As is the custom with many celebratory limited production models, no sooner do you hear that applications are being accepted than you hear that the process has been closed because all models have been sold! Same story here, if you had plans to grab a DB4 GT, your best bet if to wait on that auction block.
