Aston Martin DB9 GT Bond Edition

James Bond’s choice of vehicle has always been a key element of his films, especially so for the gearhead, but with the upcoming release of the latest installment of the Bond series entitled Spectre, it seems this time around that 007 is almost being overshadowed by his mode of transportation.

At the official press launch of Spectre, the 24th film in the franchise’s history, Aston Martin unveiled the DB10 as “the first cast member” of the movie, a bespoke coupe of which only 10 examples will be produced, but with none for sale to the public. Reports were during the press conference in December 2014, that all 10 examples were to be used during filming only. The DB10, whose design reportedly foreshadows the future styling direction of Aston Martin’s upcoming models, was developed jointly between the Spectre production team and Aston Martin.

Another Limited Aston Martin Appears

Fast forward a little less than one year later to September 2015, approximately two months before Spectre’s November release date, and we are greeted with the official launch of another limited Aston promoting Daniel Craig’s latest film. This time it is based on an existing model, the DB9, and is available for purchase by 150 individuals, we presume to be die-hard fans of both 007 and the outfit from Gaydon in England.

Silver-Themed for 007 Lovers

Aston Martin DB9 GT Bond Edition

The Aston Martin DB9 GT Bond Edition begins with a standard 2016 DB9, whose 6.0-liter V12 for the new model year received a crowd-pleasing power increase from 510 to 540-hp. Unique exterior details appearing on the DB9 GT Bond Edition are Spectre Silver paint, 10-spoke diamond black gloss 20” wheels, sterling silver Aston Martin badges at the front and rear, aluminum hood vents, grey brake calipers, a carbon-fiber front rear diffuser and front splitter and “007 Bond Edition” exterior badges.

Owners will take due diligence to not scuff the numbered door sill plaques, which indicate the vehicle’s build # out of 150, and also feature the globally-recognized 007 logo. Another famous trademarked Bond logo, the gun barrel silhouette, is embroidered into the rear seat divider. The DB9’s new infotainment system, AMi II, introduced for the 2016 MY, receives a special Bond Edition start-up screen.

It isn’t cheap to feel like Britain’s suavest super-spy as the DB9 GT Bond Edition’s nearly 1/4 million dollar price tag indicates. But for just over $250,000 US, buyers also receive a Globe-Trotter trolley case and an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m James Bond Limited Edition watch.

If You Don’t Like It, Please Give It To Me!

Much of motoring press seem to be in an uproar about the latest limited-edition Aston Martin for sale, crying “sellout, sellout!” I’m not one to comment on anybody’s marketing plans, but the silver-theme and gorgeous diamond gloss wheels make this something I wouldn’t mind being seen in anywhere; although admittedly it is unlikely that anyone would mistake me for man this vehicle was badged after.
