Black Panther Inspired Lexus LC Concept

Black Panther Inspired Lexus LC Concept

As Marvel stands proud, DC hides in the corner wailing shame because its inadequacy has now been thoroughly confirmed with Marvel’s latest hit, Black Panther, on the off chance that you forgot. We applaud Lexus on their collaboration with Marvel for the debut of their 2018 Lexus LC 500, and for showing us what would be possible if we stepped into a world where the technological possibilities were endless.

Vibranium, the metal we all wish we could get our hands on, powers the Black Panther inspired LC car in the universe where Wakanda reigns supreme. It allows for snazzy features like a self-sustaining fueling component that enhances the driving dynamics of this almost entirely bulletproof car, and unique technology that that allows it to be driven remotely anywhere in the world from control stations in Wakanda. In stark contrast, Lexus hasn’t quite figured out how to make their Wakandan imaginations a reality so for just a few extra shakes of the piggy bank, the 2018 LC 500 is quite an acceptable trade.

The result of the LF-LC concept that some have forgotten, the LC 500 is available as a naturally aspirated V8 and a hybrid V6. The V8 musters 471-hp at 7,100-rpm and 398 pound-feet of torque at 4,800-rpm on a 10-speed automatic transmission but is relatively heavy at 4,280 pounds. It shoots from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 168-mph.

For the environmentally conscious, the 3.5-litre V6 gas powered engine along with two electric motors produce a combined output of 354-hp. Comes in heavier than its V8 counterpart at 4,521 pounds and completes the 0-60-mph sprint in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 155-mph.

Both vehicles’ base price comes in just under the six-figure mark, so it can reasonably be expected that any minor additions will break the boundary quite easily. There are whispers about an LC F model with a twin turbo V8 and a convertible to join the line up in the near future. In addition a limited edition 2018 Lexus LC the first of their inspiration series is slated to go on sale in spring. Unfortunately for many fans the Black Panther inspired LC will not be available for purchase.

Even without the Marvel collaboration, it is clear that Lexus is determined not to be ignored and with the path the LC 500 is being taken along, it has a shot at becoming the luxury grand tourer to contend with. The anticipation for what Lexus plans to do next is dreadful. Wakanda forever! Oh, sorry, Lexus forever?
