Electric Genesis Essentia Concept at Lake Como

When you think high-end luxury and industry-defining design, you probably don’t think “Hyundai.” I don’t mean to slander Hyundai, they make nice consumer cars but they’ve never really been known for producing road conquering luxury hypercars. The Genesis Essentia concept, however, might just be able to shake things up.

Back in 2015, Hyundai spun off what was was the Hyundai Genesis line of cars. Originally, the Genesis was a single car. However, the Korean car manufacturer decided to expand Genesis into a full luxury brand. While the Genesis G80 four-door sedan has been well-received, the Essentia could elevate the brand to a whole new level.

The Genesis Essentia was originally unveiled at the New York auto show and quickly became one of the most talked about models. With this slick four-seater luxury-performance coupe making an appearance at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Lake Como, even more people are talking about it. Out in the light, the Essentia truly dazzled, drawing attention even as other hypercars were competing for eyes.

The Genesis Essentia concept is designed to be paired with multiple electric motors that will allow the car to high 60 in just 3 seconds. Inside, the interior is every bit as modern and sleek. Butterfly doors add a rare touch and extra dose of luxury, especially for a Hyundai.

Genesis is believed to also be working on some type of combustion coupe but rumors hint that the Essentia might replace it. The cars’ design team has been optimistic that the Essentia could hit the market, but so far electric cars have been relegated to niche status. So far now, the Genesis Essentia Concept will be turning heads at shows but not on the road.
