Green Carbon Fiber Koenigsegg Regera at Geneva

Green Carbon Fiber Koenigsegg Regera

Once again Swedish hypercar specialist Koenigsegg has hit the headlines for all the right reasons. On display now at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show, their newest creation simply jumps out at you as soon as you set your eyes on it. This year’s new Regera is crafted from green carbon fiber, in contrast to last year’s candy apple red.

With the near demise of the Koenigsegg’s Agera production line, the Regera seems to be all set to fill its predecessor’s shoes. Although there is significant development seen in the hybrid system of the new hypercar, at a curb weight of just 1,628 kg, it is still pretty light.

Power-Packed Engine

Let’s take a quick look at what makes this beast tick and what’s new in the new Regera. This lovingly hand-built hypercar delivers over 1 Mw of power and the twin-turbo 5.0 l V8 engine packs in 1,100 hp at a torque of 1,250 nm. The overall output gives you 1,500 hp with more than 2,000 nm of torque and that’s just the basic stuff!

Performance Expectations

Now, what about when this new Koenigsegg Regera Production Spec is unleashed on the road? We could be looking at some new speed records with an acceleration of 0 to 100 kmph in 2.8 seconds and 150 to 250 kmph in 3.2 seconds and 0 to 400 kmph in less than 20 seconds. With no top speed declared by Koenigsegg, the unofficial estimates are between 400 kmph and 500 kmph. This power-packed set of hot wheels may be restricted to the racetrack with speeds that defy all logic!

Historic Facts

The Koenigsegg Regera is a result of continuous, dedicated development since 2015 when it was first introduced in the Geneva Road Show. The company met with a favorable response and received a considerable number of orders. So, we can conclude that the new hypercar from Koenigsegg is far from being in its experimental stage.

Other New Features

The hypercar has some innovations in the Direct Drive system, which includes a new clutch-slip mechanism where torque is handled using a hydraulic coupling at medium to higher speeds to provide smoother acceleration.

Further innovation can be seen in the 800 volts, 4.5 kWh battery pack which is capable of discharging 525 W with a recharge rate of 200 KW. Hand-built cells contribute to the improved performance and regenerative characteristics. The battery pack is lighter by 25 kg. Even the charger hasn’t been spared. A new external high voltage DC charger is used with an 800 volt AC compressor coupled with a lightweight 800 volt DC/DC compressor.

The doors function deserves a mention as well. The ‘Autoskin’ function through which the driver can operate the doors and hoods uses a feather-touch hydraulic system. The mirrors are equipped with an automatic folding system and the doors are fitted with a unique ‘proximity sensor’ which prevents them from being crunched. Rear and side door cameras are provided, and a forward-facing camera is optional. Regular Apple CarPlay is also provided, and the hypercar is Wi-Fi enabled. Seats are electronically adjusted, with heating.

The new Koenigsegg Regera Production Spec seems to have arrived with a bang with all the stops pulled out, so all eyes on the road going forward and let’s see what this dream machine is capable of!
