Jaguar is back in the record books and it has the E-Pace to thank for that. Joining its elder sibling in wonderful Guinness World Record setting fashion, the E-Pace now holds the title for the Furthest Barrel Roll in a production vehicle. It hasn’t even hit the market and it has already begun to deliver.
This sporty crossover is powered by Jaguar’s new-era Ingenium engines and two of them are offered. The standard E-Pace comes with a 2.0-litre I4 that releases 246-hp and the R-Dynamic has the same engine but puts out 50-hp more than the standard bringing it to 296-hp. Owners have their choice of a nine-speed and six-speed automatic transmissions in various front and all-wheel drive configurations.
Prior to testing its mettle on the Guinness World Record breaking circuit, Jaguar took the E-pace on a journey around the world to Nardo, the Middle Eastern desert, the Arctic Circle and Nürburgring. Yes, the E-Pace touched the hallowed ground up in the Eifel mountains in Germany.
Not only is this SUV fast, tested and gorgeous, it’s an SUV for the modern age. The E-Pace cockpit comes with the options of a full color head-up display, ensuring that the information you need is in your line of sight, a ten inch customizable Touch Pro tablet system that can hold your contacts, music and vehicle navigation options, up to five USB ports and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot so you can remain connected while on the road.
Being proudly labeled as the “first edition” states Jaguar’s intention in no uncertain terms to continue on the path to success discovered with the F-Pace. The E-Pace will be available for buyers in 2018 along with the I-Pace which will be available next year as well. In addition to the standard model the E-Pace and E-Pace R-Dynamic range includes S, HE and HSE specification packs. Prices for the E-Pace are purported to start around $38,000.
