Street-Legal Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003

James Glickenhaus has a name that is synonymous with supercars. He’s made a name for himself by making some insane cars off Ferrari’s bones. He’s been so confident at his automotive endeavors to take his cars racing at the Nürburgring 24 Hours races—and he did respectably well. In 2015, Glickenhaus unveiled the 003C, which he again took racing at the Nürburgring. It placed 35th out of 151. The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus 003 was only ever designed to be a race car. That was until the company announced the SCG 003 S—the street version.

Set to be revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March, the 003 S—S for stradale (or roadgoing)—carries a much more restrained style with an interior fit for some creature comforts. Power will come from a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine making more than 750 horsepower with all that horsepower going to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automated manual gearbox.

Because of the car’s unique origins, getting your hands on one will not be as easy as hitting your local dealership and driving it home. To meet US standards, the SCG 300 S will be built under the custom car/home-built car laws depending on the state. In the rest of the world, it will be sold under small-vehicle manufacturing as a turnkey car.

Pricing has yet to be announced. Granted, if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it. Taking a race car and making it road legal is no cheap endeavor. And you will pay that difference. There is no word when the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003 S will be available.
