The Chevrolet Corvette Wagon Does Exist!

Callaway Corvette C7 AeroWagen

Back in 2013, when Chevrolet revealed the C7 Corvette, the iconic tuning company Callaway previewed a gorgeous shooting brake variant of the American sports car. The beautiful vehicle, which was called the AeroWagen, gave enthusiasts hope that a car could have sports-car performance, jaw-dropping looks, and the body style of a wagon – the best type of body style ever invented.

When 2016 came along, Callaway stated that the AeroWagen would go on sale before the end of the year. Well, 2016 came and went and there was still no sign of the shooting brake. Fast forward to 2017 and Callaway’s kit to turn any C7 Corvette into an AeroWagen is here.

The conversion kit, which is available on all of the C7 Corvettes, which includes the Grand Sport and the bonkers Z06, is a lot simpler than it appears. Callaway simply replaces the standard Corvette’s hatchback with the redesigned AeroWagen assembly.

The assembly includes a single piece of carbon fiber with a wraparound piece of glass, and a lot of the same original components from the stock hatch. The kit, which doesn’t require any modifications, bolts directly onto the vehicle and retains the functionality of the Corvette’s targa top.

While one would assume that adding a single piece of carbon fiber and some glass onto the back of a Corvette would be cheap, that’s not the case. The standard kit, which the tuning company is quick to point out, includes its carbon-fiber AeroSpoiler, starts at $14,990. If you’d like to have the shooting brake kit painted to match the vehicle’s original color, that’s an additional $2,980.

That’s a lot of money for what appears to be a simple kit, but this is a Corvette shooting brake we’re talking about. The pictures have us yelling, “take my money already!” at the computer screen.

Corvette owners can already order the kit as Callaway has started to accept orders, with installation set to take place in the tuner’s facilities in California and Connecticut. If those are too far away, authorized Callaway retailers can also complete the installation.
