The New Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Spitfire Edition

Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Spitfire Edition

Aston Martin’s Q division has been hard at work customizing unique finishes for all the special edition models that have been making their debut and now the Spitfire 80 is set to make its appearance in a couple months. In this model Aston Martin Cambridge meets its expected stipulation for exclusivity with an eight-model limited edition run of this beauty.

A little bit of history goes a long way in appreciating the importance of special edition models like these and the backstory here is one some should have even a smidgeon of familiarity with. The Spitfire 80 is named for the Supermarine Spitfire which has been regarded as one of Britain’s highest engineering achievements. It is a single-seater aircraft used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and allies during and after World War II. It was essential in the defense during the Battle of Britain. Here’s an interesting fact for you, a spin off version of the Spitfire was set to be powered by Rolls-Royce engines perhaps Rolls-Royce will oblige us with a commemoration too?

Nonetheless, the warplane is 80 this year and in commemoration we get a car. Score! The Spitfire 80 is bathed in Duxford Green with yellow pinstripes and has hand-built components from Duxford’s Aircraft Restoration Company. To make it even more special, customers have the option of a Spitfire serial number lacquered into their car’s side strakes, a la the V8 Vantage S Blades edition released earlier this year.

Interiorly, the headrests will get ‘Spitfire 80’ embroidered logos, the RAF’s roundel integrated into the central dashboard and the airbag covering embroidered with a unique aircraft identification code. To release your inner child, special Spitfire 80 Irvin jacket and flying helmet and goggles are also available, role play to your heart’s content.

All eight models will come with the standard V12 Vantage S workup of a 5.9-litre, 563-hp V12 engine. The starting price however is around $240,000 and in an act of goodwill and patriotism, Aston Martin will donate an unspecified amount of this price to the RAF Benevolent Fund. The lucky owners will pick up their cars at the historic, IWM Duxford on October 18th and go for a spin in a Spitfire. If this aircraft modeling becomes an Aston trend we would be absolutely ecstatic. What’s next on the list? because we’re ready?
