The New Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro

Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro

Aston Martin has done it again with the release of their latest creation, the Vulcan AMR Pro in the form of an upgrade to existing Aston Martin Vulcans. At first glance, excitement is the first emotion you would probably experience. This new addition from Aston Martin is likely to do great things for the company’s branding. So, what do we have here? Let’s take a closer look.

One Among Few

The Aston Martin Vulcan Pro upgrade comes well recommended. It has created not only one of the fastest cars in the world but is also being acclaimed as one of the rarest. There have only been 24 of these 820 hp race track cars produced.

Distinguishing Features

The 7.0-liter V12 engine has a 6-speed sequential transmission, and the bodywork is a sheer pleasure to the eyes. An AMR Pro performance pack provided by the Le Mans-winning company uses winning-class technology.

The major difference between previous models and the Vulcan AMR Pro is the aerodynamics. The upgrades on the new version are designed to ensure that air is channeled across the car in an optimized way to reduce wind resistance in favor of sheer speed. The result is an increase in downforce from 2,323 lb-ft to 2,950 lb-ft, which is a notable achievement, especially if you consider its predecessor, the former Le Mans winner, the Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTE which has a downforce of 2,290 lb-ft.

More Modifications

Another new feature is the shorter gear ratio which has been done in a bid for a reduction in lap times on the racetrack for the car. And then, you will notice the change in the front wheel arches which are fitted with louvered carbon-fiber panels which facilitate extraction of air for a reduction in lift.

The nose of the Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro has dive planes and a large splitter, again, aimed at improving the aerodynamics and it results in a firmer grip to the tarmac by the front of the car, improving stability. Extensive use of carbon-fiber contributes to an overall reduction of the engine cover by 11 pounds.

At the rear, a larger dual-paned wing has a 20 mm Gurney flap with endplates with their own Gurney flaps of 15 mm.

All this results in a lighter and faster car, built for speed. The total downforce for the car is reduced by approximately 190 lb as compared to the standard Aston Martin Vulcan. The structural changes of the car have an overall effect of improving the aerodynamic balance and shifting wind pressure more towards the center of the car.

About the Owners

There is no officially published list of the 24 owners of the Aston Martin Vulcan, but they have been in the news from time to time, like for instance, when all 24 owners were offered a three-day track orientation program by the company at Abu Dhabi recently. Also featured in the news was the bid by the Vulcan owners to make this only-track car suitable for driving on regular roads as well.

The new upgrade to Vulcan AMR Pro is available to all 24 current Aston Martin Vulcan owners and is expected to be executed this autumn.
