You are viewing a rare 1995 BMW E36 M3 Lightweight that is currently listed for sale with Lamborghini Paramus in New Jersey. This is a rare opportunity to own a limited production E36 Lightweight with just 10,138 original miles. The dealer is currently asking $135,000 for this collector grade BMW M3 for sale.
Beginning with the first E36 M3s delivered, BMW racers began pressuring BMW for a homologation version with which to compete against Porsche 911s in racing world. A homologation version is a car with special modifications from the factory that are allowed in racing as “production” cars, if enough cars are made and sold. In 1995, BMW gave into the pressure and offered the E36 M3 Lightweight. Gaswerks Garage is proud to offer this stunning, original paint E36 M3 Lightweight.
Unlike a regular E36 M3 lightweight, this E36 M3 features a powerful and rare Group N/GT Engine rending this possibly one of the best examples of an E36 M3 lightweight. Owned previously by BMWCCA members and Factory Race Drivers, this car has been carefully owned and never abused. Unlike a regular E36 M3, The major changes to the car were to lower the weight for racing. The cars came without a radio (although the speakers were installed and the car pre-wired for the radio), air conditioning, leather seats, tool kit, or a sunroof. The doors have aluminum skins. There is no under-bonnet insulation blanket and the trunk only has carpet on the floor. Overall the changes added up to 200lb (91 kg) of weight reduction compared to a standard M3.
This car drives absolutely wonderfully, it is in part due to being fitted with the shorter springs from the European M3. The car produced 287 RWHP on a dyno, a very great figure for a naturally aspirated straight six. The engine makes no strange noises or rattles and absolutely sings in the higher RPMs. Power is delivery through a 5 speed gearbox that shifts smoothly and without hesitation. The interior is immaculate with no stains or rips, and has been fitted with a period correct BMW radio which makes road trips or Sunday drives even more enjoyable when your not listening to the Group N exhaust. The seats, headliner, dash and carpet are all in like-new condition.
The engine bay is spotless, no drips, stains or oil can be found inside. The straight-six engine literally looks as if it was just installed yesterday. The conversion was done by TC Kline in Columbus, Ohio. TC Kline is known for their BMW racing experience. Here is your chance to own a piece of BMW racing history. With only 125 cars built and only 116 cars sold to the public, this is an incredibly rare opportunity to own one of the most legendary M3s ever produced.
