2016 Corvette Z06 – Domestic Muscle

Corvette has always been known for their speed coupled with sleek and refined body styles since it was first introduced in 1953. Now nearly 65 years later comes the 2016 Chevy Corvette Z06 C7R Edition and while I prefer imports over domestic cars, the Z06 definitely caught my attention.

The Z06 has some impressive specs including a 6.2L V8 which gives drivers up to 650 hp, but you will trade muscle for mileage as the new Vette gets 17 city and 29 highway. Chevy gives you the option to build your own car. Choose from a convertible or a hardtop. Being a rag top kind of guy, I chose the convertible even though it is $4,000 more. There’s actually not a huge difference in trim levels, but I do like heated seats with lumbar support, so I went with the Z06 trim line. Additional options are your choice in wheels. I chose the base model rims 19″ front/20″ rear, Z06® Pearl Nickel-painted aluminum wheels although there are three more styles to choose from. Since I wasn’t actually buying this car, I was able to go a bit crazy, so I chose the Z07 performance pack for an additional $8000 with the carbon fiber ground affects package for another three grand.  This Corvette only comes with a seven speed manual transmission.

The grand total on my Corvette was $96,000. This is a lot less expensive than the model with the VIN 001 which went for $500,000 at a recent auction in Las Vegas, NV. GM donated this ultra cool Vette for a charity which benefited the College of Creative Studies based in Detroit. The C7.R Editions are a rare breed as only 500 were built. This particular model came in signature racing yellow and included an upgraded performance package like the one I built.
