2020 Porsche 911 vs 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT
You’d never mix up a 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera and 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe. It’d be hard for the two cars to look more distinct from one another. What’s perhaps more interesting, however, is the fact that the differences are just as considerable beneath the skin. Both cars feature similar price tags and target similar markets. Yet these supercars are far different from one another.
Both the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera and 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe cost north of $100,000. Both are supercars but aim to be practical enough that you could drive them every day. Yet while they take off from a similar starting line, the two cars go through a very different journey and cross the finish line a ways apart.
First, the 2020 Porsche 911 features many of the same long-running design cues that have defined 911s for years. There’s no mistaking these supercars. Whether that’s a benefit or a detraction is up to the beholder. The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe does feature more distinctive and arguably more modern styling.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe also features an excellent interior that in some ways edges out the Porsche 911 Carrera. The AMG GT is more feature-rich as well, so if you’re looking for all the modern amenities, the Mercedes might be a better fit.
That said, the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera offers better overall performance. It’s faster, has stronger acceleration, and the paired down features and interior keep your focus on the road. Where the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera really shines and the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe falls short, however, is ride quality. The Porsche simply offers a much smoother ride while the Mercedes can be a bit rough.
