2025 BMW M2: Power and Precision Reimagined
BMW’s smallest sports car is back with significant upgrades for the 2025 model year, including more power and a tech-centric cabin overhaul.
The German automaker has unveiled a refreshed version of the second-generation M2, featuring increased power and updated technology. The latest edition of this compact speed machine promises to deliver an even more exhilarating driving experience.
If you appreciate the M2’s robust design, you’re in luck. The coupe retains its muscular look from the 2023 sophomore iteration, with its distinctive sculpted body and bulging rear fenders signaling its true sports car pedigree. For 2025, BMW is introducing several new body paint options, including Sao Paolo Yellow, Vegas Red metallic, Skyscraper Grey metallic, and Portimao Blue metallic, along with new BMW Individual finishes. However, the exterior changes end there.
Inside, the updates are more pronounced. The dashboard has been redesigned to accommodate more screens and fewer physical controls. A new curved display spans from the driver’s cockpit to the center of the dash, featuring a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen running the latest BMW operating system. Additional interior changes include a restyled leather-wrapped steering wheel and the option to upgrade to M Carbon bucket seats. The M2 still seats four, though the rear seats remain somewhat tight.
Under the hood, the BMW M2 continues to be powered by a twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, now producing 473 horsepower and 406 ft-lbs of torque, marking a 20 hp increase. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, while a six-speed manual remains an option for those who enjoy precise downshifts. Interestingly, the automatic version offers an extra 37 ft-lbs of torque. BMW claims the automatic M2 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in four seconds flat, while the manual version takes 4.2 seconds. The top speed is 155 mph, but the optional M Driver’s package increases this to 177 mph.
If you’re in the market for a compact yet powerful car, the 2025 BMW M2 will soon be available. Production is set to begin later this summer, with the updated model starting at $66,075, slightly up from the 2024 edition’s $64,195 base price.
