8 Cool Cars From The 2019 Detroit Auto Show

The Detroit Auto Show this year is conspicuous with the absence of some of the big names like Porsche, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW. However, here are the details of some of the more exotic entrants:

Lexus LC Convertible

Lexus LC Convertible

With a naturally-aspirated V8 engine this stylish coupe is a concept car. The company hasn’t declared whether it will be a hard top or a soft top. With naturally sleek lines, the car offers a smart profile. The powertrain is the same as the earlier models.

Toyota Supra

Toyota Supra

It has taken Toyota 21 years to come up with this Supra model. However, it is being said that it is not a true Supra due to the presence of BMW elements which results from a close partnership with BMW. This car comes with automatic transmission only. The launch edition will be followed by special editions later.

Nissan IMS

Nissan IMS

The Nissan IMS 480 hp all-electric car has 590 lb-ft torque and a 115-kWh battery pack. The active air suspension offers added comfort for the occupants. The auto-drive option is available, and an interesting feature is that indicator lights reveal to other drivers and pedestrians when the car is in auto-drive mode.

Volkswagen Jetta

Volkswagen Jetta

It is a refreshed model, but with everything larger regarding wheelbase, and other dimensions. The car has a 170 hp turbocharged 1.4-liter engine and 8-speed automatic transmission.

Cadillac XT6

Cadillac XT6

This is a sports line model (and a premium luxury version is available as well). 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 engine. It is aimed at taking a chunk of the SUV market. However, no Supercruise is available (a unique option special to Cadillac). However, at 310 hp and a torque of 271 lb-ft, the car packs a sizeable punch.

Lincoln Aviator

Lincoln Aviator

An impressive entry in the SUV category, the Lincoln Aviator, has revived rear-drive, and a turbo V6 engine with a hybrid powertrain. The car has coach doors and is extremely heavy at 9,000 lbs.

Subaru S209

Subaru S209

This model will only be available in the US. With more power than the basic model, it is wider as well. Hand-built the gold wheels are an attractive feature (available with the white paint only). Transmission is manual.

Ford Shelby GT500

Ford Shelby GT500

This entry from Ford is 700 hp with 7-speed DCT.  20” wheels with exposed-weave carbon fiber wheels make them extremely light – the Magnaride shocks take care of the rest to provide a comfortable ride. There are improvements to the engine block like additional ribbing, an improved oil sump, and a powerful blower placed lower in the engine than before.

We hope you enjoyed reading this. However, if you are already looking forward to the next Detroit Auto Show in 2020, you’ll have to wait a bit longer next year, because going forward, the auto show will be held in June each year.
