2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Preview
For the Mercedes-AMG enthusiasts, there were few dry eyes left when the most recent model Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG went out of production. Thankfully, Mercedes-AMG has revealed its 2017 C63 successor, a couple weeks ahead of its formal introduction in September; and the glimpse encourages more than a little excitement.
The 2017 model has an even more aggressive appearance than its predecessor, and will be offered as a coupe and a sedan. Both options use a 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged V8, a lot less alluring than the 2014’s 6.2 but more efficient.
Though this car is destined to spend more time in suburbia, forced to contain its potential, this powerful engine produces 469-hp and 279 pounds of torque in the standard model; and 503-hp and 516 pounds of torque in the S Coupe. Mercedes-AMG discloses that the 7-speed manual or automatic transmission of the C63 will do 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9s with top speeds of 249 km/h; while the C63 S does in in 3.8s, achieving top speeds of 289 km/h.
Aesthetically, the muscular design, wider front and rear, flared fenders, LED lights and a panoramic sunroof set it apart from its predecessor and other competitors in its class. Standard interior features will include: keyless access and starting, 7-inch color display, satellite radio, microfiber-upholstered front seats and heated power front seats with driver memory. Drivers will also have several options for the personalization of their car which can include performance seats that offer a lower seating position to name one.
Presently, a base price of $70,000 is assumed for the standard C63 and $80,000 for the C63 S; both cars are expected to be on sale in the U.S. by summer 2016. We will get more details from Mercedes-AMG when both cars are revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show in a couple weeks.
