The 5 Best to Break Cover at the LA Auto Show

The LA Auto Show is now behind us, and we are still savoring all the new metal we saw. Needless to say, we are quite excited about our automotive future. Here are our picks for the five best reveals from the 2016 LA Auto Show.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio

We can no longer deny that right now, the automotive world is focused on crossovers and SUVs. Consumers are going gangbusters for the things, so luxury automakers are building them as fast as they can. Alfa Romeo, an Italian sports car brand, is also joining the game with the Stelvio—but it is not losing its roots. The Stelvio will have engines ranging from 280 hp all the way up to 505, which will have a top speed of 177 mph and hit 60 mph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds.

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

Ford surprised the automotive world with its F-150 Raptor pickup truck. Rugged, and designed to go where the pavement ends, it set a new standard in off-road capability right from the factory floor. Now, Chevrolet is dipping its toe into the game with the Colorado ZR2. While sized smaller than the F-150, the Colorado ZR2 packs a host of off-road goodies. Considering truck sales are growing, a new entry into the segment can only help Chevrolet.

Honda Civic Si

Honda has finally gotten its design mojo back, which appears to be bringing along its motorsports mojo as well. Honda has a storied history of sports cars and racing, which has been lost from the brand for several years. Now, Honda is attacking the growing affordable sports car market with the Civic Si, which may not be as wild as the Type R, but will still offer plenty of performance to scratch that performance itch.

Jaguar I-Pace EV Concept

Jaguar I-Pace EV Concept

The future of the automotive industry is crossovers and electrification. Jaguar has combined those two future moneymakers into a single concept that will likely hit the market sometime in 2018 pretty much as you see it here. With a range of 220 miles and a spring to 60 in around four seconds, the Jaguar I-Pace EV Concept should be another hit for the automaker.

Jeep Compass

Jeep Compass

Since Chrysler went bankrupt seven years ago, Jeep has been the moneymaker for the brand. The Jeep portfolio was revitalized under Fiat and can now seem to do no wrong. Even with the new Renegade filling the compact crossover niche for the brand, Jeep introduced an all-new Compass at the show. Currently, there is two design ethos within the brand—one that is worn by the Grand Cherokee and Cherokee and the other by the Wrangler and Renegade. As you can see, the Compass takes after its bigger Cherokee stablemates. While it may be small, Jeep plans on releasing a Trailhawk version so it can tackle some serious off-road tracks.
