Aston Martin DB11 Will Replace DB9

Aston Martin has always been know for their ultra cool body styles and their high performance.  The British car manufacture has been a serious rival of other British sports car builders.  A favorite of James Bond, Aston Martins have appeared in eleven Bond flicks, including the DB10 in the latest in the series “Spectre.” While the DB10 would have been the logical successor to the DB9, only 10 were built and were only manufactured for the movie.

For 2016, they are retiring the Aston Martin DB9 for sale and replacing it with the DB11. The company is going through a relaunch of sorts as they plan on replacing all their current models with new and improved cars within the next five years.  Of course, you will still get an eye catching automobile with plenty of power under the hood, but with updated everything, including interiors and engines.  The DB11 is the first to give the buying public a look at the future.

Unlike its successor, the newly designed car has a six speed manual instead of the DB9’s six speed manual with the option of an eight speed automatic.  While Aston Martin is tight lipped about their latest masterpiece, we do know that it will come with either a 4.0-liter V8 from the Mercedes Benz AMG GT or a redesigned Aston Martin V12 with twin turbochargers. Either way you slice it, the new auto will quite possibly be the fastest DB series to date with a staggering 590 horsepower.

Other updates will include making the DB11 a four seater with more leg room in the back. They are updating the dashboard with a larger infotainment center. The official launch will take place at the Geneva Motor Show, but don’t expect to get your hands on one until late 2016.  As if to tease us, Aston Martin is planning on rolling out a convertible DB11 in 2017.

Other cars that are slotted for release are the Vantage in 2018, the DBX in 2019-20, the Saloon in 2019-20 and the Vanquish in 2020.  However, the DB11 will most likely act as the flagship car for the British car manufacturer.
