Bentley Continental GT Fitted For Ice Skating

Bentley Continental GT Bomber Ski Edition

Who doesn’t love an exotic build of an already exotic supercar? Over the years, we’ve seen great builds from Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, and more. Now, Bentley is offering up its own unique “safari” car: a Bentley Continental GT “Bomber” built for ice skating.

Yes, you read that right, I didn’t mistype. Ice skating. The specially built Bentley Continental GT was built specifically for the Zell am See ice race. It was also designed to highlight Bentley’s collaboration with the Bomber ski company.

So how do you make an ice-friendly Bentley? You start by raising the car a bit so you can then increase the track width. Bentley added just .6 inches in track width but that’s enough to significantly improve grip to the road.

Perhaps the most important modification was the choice of tires. You can think of tires as the “blades” on the ice skates that meet the ice. In this case, Bentley decided to go with Studded Pirelli Scorpion tires. These tires are considered to be among the best for icy conditions.

Even with great tires and increased track width, driving on ice is dangerous. That’s why Bentley fitted the Continental GT with a roll cage and other safety features. There’s a ski rack on top as well, fitted with Bomber skis.

Besides that, Bentley stuck with their standard suspension and 6.0-liter engine that cranks out 626 horsepower. That allows the Continental GT to hit 60 in just 3.6 seconds, although you probably won’t accelerate that quickly at the ice ring.
