BMW M8 Gran Coupe Review

2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe

Is BMW’s new M8 Gran Coupe a super car or a family sedan? Ultimately, it falls somewhere in between, offering super car performance but the roominess and functionality of a family car.

So just how fast is the M8 Gran Coupe? With 600 horses under the hood, the M8 Gran Coupe can hit 60 miles per hour in just 3.1 seconds.

Want to hit that three second mark, which many consider to be the mark of a true (modern) super car? Then you can opt for the M8 Competition model, which features an extra 17 horses and can hit sixty in just 3 seconds.

Both models are powered by a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine. As for top speed, you’ll cross the 150 mile per hour mark, and with the right options, in this case the M Driver’s package, it can hit 190 miles per hour.  In the torque department, the BMW M8 cranks out 533 ft-lbs and the powertrain is mated to an eight-speed transmission.

Of course, there are a lot of cars that are fast off the line but not so much fun on the track. That’s where BMW’s Adaptive M Suspension comes in. It uses road surface conditions, steering input, and movement to individually damper the suspension.

As you’ve probably guessed, all of this performance isn’t cheap. The standard M8 Grand Coupe starts at $130,995 while the competition will cost at least $143,995. Production starts in the coming weeks and the M8 Grand Coupe is likely to hit the market in 2020.
