Brabham BT62 Can Be Street Legal For A Price

Brabham BT62

Meet the Brabham BT62, a hyper car that offers quite a bit of bang but costs north of £1,000,000 . Powered by a 5.4 litre 8 engine that cranks out over 700 horse power and nearly 670 nm of torque, the BT62 offers some serious track side performance. In fact, the base model is legal only for the race track. But for £150,000 you can make your BT62 street legal.

For most of us, £150,000 is certainly nothing to sneeze at. In many places, that would buy you a small house or apartment. At the auto dealership, you could snag an entry level super car. Still, if you’ve looking at seven figure hypercars but don’t have a private race track, an extra £150,000 probably isn’t that big of a deal.

It’s believed that the Brabham BT62 will top out at over 211 miles per hour. It’s also projected that the Brabham BT62 will hit 62 miles in 2.8 seconds or less. If Brabham can deliver on those numbers, the BT62 will be among the fastest hyper cars of all time.

So how come this hypercar is so fast? Obviously, the engine produces solid numbers but they aren’t exactly record breaking either. The BT62 is a highly aerodynamic car that produces a lot of down force (1,200 KG to be exact). This means a lot of those horses and that torque actually reaches the pavement.

However, where the  Brabham BT62 really excels is weight. This hypercar tips the scales at only 972kg. Still, it’s expected that only 70 of these lightweight beauties will be built and that they’ll be delivered mid 2019. So if you haven’t ordered one already, you might be out of luck.
