Bumblebee Returns as Another Wicked Camaro

Bumblebee Chevrolet Camaro

With the fifth Transformers movie coming down the pipe next June, should it be any surprise that with it will come a slew of slick looking vehicles? If we were the betting type, we would put our money on a slew of futuristic General Motor vehicles being the stars of Transformers: The Last Knight.

A full year ahead of the movie’s release date and director Michael Bay—known for explosions and explosively simple plots—has given us a full-frontal view of the new Bumblebee, which is based on the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.

Since the movie’s first film, the car-star of the franchise has been this bright yellow Camaro with a personality to boot. In 2007, it previewed the 2010 production car fans had been waiting for. What was so astonishing back then was how closely the movie-car and production car resembled each other, as the original Bumblebee was based on a concept car.

The latest iteration takes the new Camaro’s styling and turns it to 11. While we only get a front three-quarter view, we can assuredly say this ain’t your grandpappy’s muscle car. With a likely 455-horsepower 6.2-liter under the hood, this thing will fly straight from the movie screen and careen right into the crowd like a Mustang leaving a Cars & Coffee event.

The front end has been redesigned with what looks like to be functional air ducts directing air right to the brakes. There is a massive chin spoiler with winglets that are mimicked along the side skirts. Along the fender are some vents, which also appear to be on the hood as well. While the back is disguised, we see hints at a sweet wing and a redesigned rear end.

As much as the Transformers movies are popcorn entertainment at its best, we cannot deny our love of the massive amount of cars the film shows. We should be buying our ticket soon enough.
