Famed ’67 Camaro SS Bumblebee to be Auctioned

A 1967 Camaro SS at auction can have the hammer come down at right around $40,000. But if that Camaro SS has a story to tell watch out! The price then becomes transformational.

1967 Camaro SS Bumblebee

Case in point is a movie star Camaro SS. Not just any star, but a superstar. I give you the 1967 Camaro SS Bumblebee.

This ’67 Camaro starred as the shape-changing Bumblebee in Transformers: Age of Extinction or know to series fans simply as Transformers 4. Not only is the car a superstar, but it is currently owned by Michael Bay who is the actual director of the Transformer series. Bay is a car aficionado and has a stable that includes a Ferrari 458 Italia, Bentley Continental GT, Lamborghini Aventador and Porsche 911 Turbo. Bay can afford a great lineup of cars. Through no fault of the old Bumblebee, Transformers 4 got bad reviews but still grossed over $1 billion!

Chevy Camaro SS Bumblebee

The Bumblebee was so popular in the original Transformers movie in 2007 that fans were asking Chevrolet how they could purchase a Bumblebee Camaro of their own. In 2010, Chevy revealed a Camaro Transformers Special Edition. The car was offered as a Rally Yellow LT or SS model. It had an RS Appearance Package as an additional option.

The Camaro Transformers Special Edition included Autobot shields on the front fenders, wheel center caps, and embroidery on the interior center console lid. The Transformers logo appeared on the driver and passenger door sill plates and was also featured on the hood rally stripes in a tone-on-tone fashion.

The authentic real deal one of a kind Camaro muscle machine will be offered at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona from January 23-31.

The 1967 Camaro SS Bumblebee offered for auction houses a fuel injected Corvette LS3 small block V8, 6 Speed manual transmission, Wilwood brakes, there piece racing wheels and a custom lowered and stiffened suspension. Some if its special amenities include hideaway headlight covers with custom Halo LED yellow lights, a Ride Tech TigerCage roll cage, custom made carbon fiber fender flairs and front splitters, flush mounted door handles, Auto Meter Cobalt gauges, leather seats from a later model Camaro and modern touchscreen navigation system.

If you can’t get to Scottsdale, don’t despair. I’m sure the Bumblebee, who starred on the big screen, will gain fame on the TV as a featured player during the annual Barrett-Jackson telecast.
