Ferrari GTC4Lusso T Gets V8 Turbo Engine

The Ferrari FF was reintroduced earlier this year with refreshed styling and a new name—the GTC4Lusso. We thought the Italian supercar maker was going to leave its hatch at that, but we were wrong. At this year’s Paris Motor Show last week, Ferrari introduced the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T. The T representing a new twin-turbocharged V-8 engine under the hood. However, there is more to the T than just a new engine.

Gone is the 6.3-liter V-12, now replaced with a twin-turbo 3.8-liter engine. Power loss is minor. The new engine makes 601 horsepower compared to the V-12’s 661. Torque, thankfully, is unchanged at 561 pound-feet. You can thank those turbos. If you’re afraid the new engine will hurt performance, we can promise you there is still enough oomph here to get your license revoked minutes after leaving the dealership lot. A sprint to 62 miles per hour takes 3.5 seconds. Top speed is said to be above 199 mph.

Along with the new engine comes another change. The GTC4Lusso T goes rear-wheel-drive only. All-wheel drive is gone, relegated to the V-12 engine. The loss of the big engine and all-wheel-drive system not only saves 100 pounds in weight but also changes the weight distribution—46 front and 54 front.

The GTC4Lusso’s styling may still leave some scratching their heads, as it is an odd departure for the automaker. However, making it RWD with some turbo V-8 power should give someone looking for a Ferrari with some utility something to put in their driveway.
