Final Fantasy XV Audi R8 for one Lucky Winner
In what might be fan-service personified or the best example of product placement since the 1992 Pizza Hut-Doritos-Reebok-Nuprin-Pepsi mashup in Wayne’s World, Audi Japan teamed up with Square Enix to provide us with the remarkably attractive Audi R8 Star of Lucis.
The Star of Lucis plays no role in the video game but instead makes its appearance in the promotional movie Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. Replete with its own folklore and story of origin quite removed from reality and properly established in the Final Fantasy universe, it is clear that Audi and Square Enix had more than a little bit of fun during this collaboration and what better way to honor that than by bringing the Fantasy to life.
Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise who have a hankering for Audi’s or perhaps just a general appreciation for sports cars can celebrate their $470,000 chance of owning a one-of-a-kind Audi R8. Yes, the car is half-a-million dollars. Well, not quite but pretty close. Starting November 21st interested parties can enter a raffle from which one lucky winner will be chosen and given the chance to purchase the vehicle. This conveniently removes the potential inconvenience of a bidding war.
The Star of Lucis is a 610-hp, 5.2-liter V10 with a 7-speed S tronic transmission. The R8 can reach 62-mph in 3.2 seconds and boasts a maximum speed of about 205-mph. From the emblems of the Kingdom on the rims of the car, to the royal color of the exterior, to the interior fit for the Prince (for whom it was made), the nuances of design reflect the universe that inspired it without being gaudy or unattractive.
