Want a Corvette but don’t want to deal with the price at the pump or looking to cut down your carbon footprint? Up until recently, you wouldn’t have any options outside of perhaps dreaming. However, American EV manufacturer Genovation has unveiled their own electric take on the Corvette, the Genovation GXE.

The GXE is based on the Chevrolet Corvette. However, Genovation swaps up the fossil fuel engine for an all-electric powertrain. As of now, the company plans to produce just 75 with deliveries slatted for delivery sometime around midyear 2019.

Don’t blame yourself if you’ve never heard of Genovation. The Rockville, Maryland based company is quite new to the scene, having just debuted this year. The GXE was shown off the first time at the 2018 CES show. Since then, it’s become one of the most popular attractions on the circuit.

Why all the attention? While Genovation might be new, their goods are certainly up to the task. The Genovation GXE already holds a number of world records for electric cars. In fact, it’s already the fastest street legal electric, capable of hitting nearly 190.5 miles per hour in a standing mile.

The GXE is able to hit those speeds with its 800 horsepower and 700 lb-ft torque engine. Genovation is aiming for a top speed of 220 miles per hour. As for range, the company is expecting a 175 mile range. Perhaps most interestingly, Genovation plans to offer a 7 speed manual, which would be a first for an electric hypercar.
