Jaguar F-Type Rally Car Is Ready For Adventure

When you think of the Jaguar F-Type, you probably don’t think of rally cars. The Jaguar F-Type has been a mainstay of the luxury roadster market but is known more for weekend road trips rather than cross country adventures. The new Jaguar F-Type Rally Car changes that dynamic.

The Jaguar F-Type Rally car was launched to celebrate the company’s 70 year anniversary. Based on the Jaguar F-Type Chequered Flag Limited Edition models, these rally cars are fully FIA compliant. They feature softer springs and a three-way adjustable damper system, as well as a hydraulic handbrake.

Interestingly, Jaguar decided to go the convertible route when building their F-Type rally car. Of course, a roll cage was added to protect the driver, but it’s surprising they went soft top at all.

Jaguar was inspired by their XK120, which is one of the most well-regarded rally cars ever. Ian Appleyard was able to guide an XK120 on three flawless, consecutive Alpine Rallies. The XK120 also won the 3,400 KM Tulip Rally, as well as the 1953 RAC rally in Great Britain.

Unfortunately, the Jaguar F-Type Rally car isn’t going to be put on sale at this time. Who knows, however, if interest is high enough, Jaguar might consider offering some more adventurous models in the future. If you want to see a Jaguar F-Type Rally car in action, however, they’re expected to be on hand at Jaguar events in the months ahead.
