Lamborghini’s Latest V12: Aventador S

Lamborghini Aventador S

If we were to look at nothing more than the added ‘S’ to the Lamborghini Aventador’s name, we would be assured of two things. One, that the changes were extensive and would set a new standard for the Aventador model. Two, that whatever the outcome, it would be tremendously exciting. We have not been left wanting as the Aventador S with ‘new aerodynamic design, redeveloped suspension and increased power and new driving dynamics’ heralds the next generation for the V12 Lamborghini model.

The front end, while still noticeably Aventador now has a more aggressive nose, longer front splitter and two new air ducts for improved aerodynamic efficiency. At the rear there is a black diffuser decorated with vertical fins designed for reduction of drag and generation of downforce. There is also an active rear wing which is adjusted based on speed and the driver select mode.

Lamborghini Aventador S Review

The lightweight, rigid carbon fiber monocoque with attached aluminum frames is maintained in the S model which brings it just shy of 1,600 kg. For a ‘superior drive, ride and performance’ the four wheel drive Aventador S has a new active suspension and four-wheel steering system; the latter of which provides improved agility at low and medium speeds and more stability at a higher speed. Otherwise, control is boosted by Lamborghini’s pushrod and Lamborghini Magneto-rheological Suspension updated and revised to adapt to the new four-wheel steering. This new system works in real time to optimize wheel and body control and maximize balance and ground stiffness.

The Aventador S has four driving mode options. The STRADA which is for comfort and daily use. SPORT gives the driver a sporty rear-wheel drive feel. CORSA is the mode for track day, and the new kid on the block, EGO, provides individual profiles with the ability to customize traction, steering and suspension within the previously mentioned modes.

This Aventador S is not the V12 Lamborghini flagship for no reason and the reason is nowhere more apparent than under the hood. What was fast is now faster much to our entertainment and sheer delight. The 6.5 liter V12 puts out 730-bhp, that’s 39-ho more than the Aventador’s 691-bhp. The Aventador S redlines at 8,500-rpm from a previous 8,350 and through a 7-speed gear box this bull gives us 0-62-mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 217-mph.

Once it hits American shores, prices are rumored to be around $424,845. Chump change right? One thing is for certain, with this much speed and beauty, Stephen Strange and Bruce Wayne will be battling it out for a chance to destroy this model in their next big screen appearance.
