Lamborghini’s New Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster

A Lamborghini, being what it is, naturally exudes a “wow” factor. But the Italian manufacturer’s newest supercar demands something more. According to Wired, the vehicle is as insane as its name — Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster — which, although long and seemingly complicated, clearly states just how special this Lamborghini for sale really is.

The new roadster made its global debut just last month at the Quail Motorsports Gathering, as part of Monterey Car Week in California. Its status as both a limited-series model (only 500 units are available worldwide) and the first series-produced convertible to feature the Superveloce moniker (as stated by the automaker) only adds to the Aventador’s desirability. The full appeal comes from the fact that this latest Raging Bull incarnation is the meanest yet.

At the base, the Aventador for sale is not just any Lamborghini: it’s the company’s flagship model — a real attention-getter. Add Superveloce to the equation, a word that loosely translates to mean “super fast,” and you have one hardcore vehicle. According to The National, “SV is a moniker first attached to a Lamborghini in 1971, when it denoted the ultimate Miura,” which “was, and still is, the finest iteration of the first bona fide supercar.”

Wired says the LP in the name, short for longitudinal posteriore, refers to the vehicle’s longitudinally-mounted engine, which means the crankshaft is parallel with the car, front to back. The naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 boasts a total output of 750 horses and 509 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to the brand’s seven-speed Independent Shift Rod (ISR) transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels via the company’s grippy Haldex Generation IV four-wheel drive system — hence the “4” in the supercar’s lengthy title.

The new Superveloce is an excellent performer too: the car can sprint from zero-to-62 in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 217 mph, thanks in part to lighter materials such as carbon fiber, and a lower (dry) weight when compared to the Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster. The new model now weighs 3,472 pounds after shedding 110 lb.

Other details worth noting include a power rear window, and a two-piece hardtop that easily stows inside the luggage compartment.

Deliveries of the all-new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster are set to begin early next year and will be priced from $530,075, according the the automaker’s press release.
