Maserati Levante to Debut in 2016

In an era where luxury SUV’s are gaining significant traction, it should come as no surprise to discover that Italian luxury carmaker, Maserati, has now confirmed the debut of their Levante at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

With full production expected to begin by February 2016, Maserati CEO, Harold Wester has emphatically stated that the Levante will be a true Maserati, different and better than their competitors, with a stronger off-road capability.

So far, we know that the Levante will be a five-seater vehicle, sized and priced between the Ghibli and Quattroporte models, and be based on the platform that underpins the same. The Levante will use Ferrari built 350-hp or 425-hp V6, or a 560-hp plus V8 engine; and the transmission and all-wheel drive system present in the Ghibli and Quattroporte models, will also be seen in the Levante. Plug in hybrids should be available by 2018.

While it is certainly a relief that we have more information and some tentative dates since its parent concept debut in 2003, the Kubang, in a market that is becoming increasingly crowded with luxury SUV’s, the Levante must stand out. Especially if CEO Wester expects the Levante to be the marque that carries Maserati to their goal of 75,000 units sold by 2018. With the Levante’s rivals already being named as Jaguar’s F-Pace, Bentley’s Bentayga and its German counterpart the Macan, we can only wait in anticipation for the ultimate reveal next year, and pray that there are no more delays in Maserati’s future.
