Enjoy cruising with the top down but looking for some serious speed? If so, the new McLaren 765LT Spider may be just what you’re looking for. This drop-top can hit 205 miles per hour, making it McLaren’s fastest convertible yet.
If you’re buying a convertible hypercar, you’re often asked to sacrifice much of the styling to fit in the drop-top. And frequently, convertible variants aren’t as fast as their hard-top counterparts. With the McLaren 765LT Spider you can still enjoy the original shape and form of the 765LT and comparable performance too.
That’s because this Spider is equipped with carbon fiber panels. The top over the cab drops underneath the rear panels. The hard-top convertible folds up in just 11 seconds. You can engage the drop-top at speeds up to 31 miles per hour.
The convertible system does add about a hundred pounds to the weight of the 765LT Spider. That might affect its performance a bit, but at 3,060 pounds, this hypercar is still very light.
Underneath the hood, you’ll find the same M840T 4.0-liter V-8 engine cranking about 755 horsepower and 590 ft-lbs of torque. The original McLaren 765LT for sale was designed with street-legal but track-worthy performance in mind. The Spider variant should be roughly as capable.
The 765LT Spider does cost a bit more but adds just $7,000 to the base price. The McLaren 765 LT Spider starts at $382,500. Only 765 models are slated for production, so you’ll want to act quickly if you’re looking to buy this hypercar.
