New Supercar Alert: Rezvani Beast

Last year, Ferris Rezvani founded a supercar design and manufacturing company with a mission to create “the lightest, highest performing car on the market — but at a reasonable price.” That goal has now been achieved, as the brand finally unveiled a production version of the Beast: a 500-horsepower rear-drive sports car worth approximately $165,000.

Rezvani Motors is an American company based in California, and it’s the newest addition to the realm of high-performance automakers. It’s also one of those rare startups that have actually managed to move through the concept/debut/production stage, resulting in more than just a supercar — but rather — one hell of a Beast.

Based on the Ariel Atom 3, the Rezvani Beast (yes, that’s literally its name) incorporates the vehicle’s chassis, and features a lightweight — 1,650-pound — carbon fiber body. And in keeping with the feather-light theme, the seats and steering wheel are also made of carbon fiber, and the aluminum forged wheels are none too heavy either. After all, when it comes to these types of vehicles, keeping the pounds to a minimum is a key ingredient to a model’s success.

If you find yourself salivating over high-engine output figures — remember — it’s not all about horsepower and torque: it’s also about weight. According to Autobytel, reducing a vehicle’s overall mass helps pave the way for improved handling, acceleration, effective braking, and “the ability to hold more speed through the corners.” In addition, since weight is the enemy of fuel economy, dropping a few pounds should save you some money at the pump. What’s more, the model’s lightweight helps the Rezvani Beast sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.7-seconds and reach a top speed of 165 mph, based on the automaker’s press release.

Under the hood, the all-new supercar sports a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that features both a supercharger and turbocharger. It’s paired to a six-speed manual gearbox of Honda origin — according to NY Daily News — and is capable of sending a total 500 ponies to the rear wheels. A sequential automatic is also available.

On the technology front, the Beast includes Apple CarPlay, which is not something you’re likely to find elsewhere in this segment.

The new U.S.-built “born on the track and designed for the road” Rezvani model offers slick styling, a beastly growl and raw power. It’s available for order and is officially on the prowl as of this month.
