Tesla Model 3 Performance Equipped With Track Mode

Tesla Model 3 Performance

So here’s the bad news: the Tesla Model 3 isn’t currently slated to get Tesla’s famed “Ludicrous” mode. In case you’re unfamiliar, Ludicrous Mode allows the Tesla Model S to achieve 60 in 2.5 seconds or less. This makes the family-friendly sedan faster than many combustion-engine hypercars.

Now here’s the good news: the Tesla Model 3 is coming with “Track Mode.” What does that mean? Quite simply, the new Tesla Model 3 can be fine tuned for track performance. Equipped with better breaks, tires, and an engine tuned for long distance performance driving, the Track Mode will enable ridiculous cornering and excellent stamina.

One major criticism of the Tesla Model S with Ludicrous mode is that while it is near unbeatable on a drag strip, it isn’t good for much else. After a quick burst down the strip, for example, you’d often have to pull over and let the car’s batteries cool down.

The Model 3’s track mode aims to solve this by using powerful fans and other thermodynamic upgrades to keep the batteries cool. This allows the two independent on-board motors to operate on a more continuous basis. By the way, by having two independent motors, the Model 3 also enables near instantaneous torque vectoring.

The best thing about the Model 3 may be the onboard computers. Turn the wheel, select a destination, say the other side of a sharp turn, and the onboard CPUs will try to figure out how to get you there. The end result is a car that offers crazy good handling. The car also hits 60 in about 3.5 seconds, so you’ll be able to keep up with many hypercars as well (although, not a Tesla Model S with Ludicrous mode).
