The BMW M2 is Finally Unleashed

BMW M2

BMW finally unleashes a monster from their coveted gates with the 2016 M2. The latest in the M-badged Beamers has quite a bit to live up to as it is replacing the limited edition 1 Series M Coupe. The new kid on the block has been called the M2535i on steroids which is a fair assessment. Taking elements from the larger M3 and M4, the M2 has an upgraded 3.0 liter turbocharged beast under its hood. With the bigger engine drivers can expect 365 horsepower and 343 ft-lbs of torque. With a 6 speed manual, expect to go from 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds, but when fitted with the seven speed automatic transmission, this drops to 4.2 seconds. No matter what transmission is chosen, drivers can expect to top out at 155 mph. It has been suggested the M2 is comparable to Porsche’s Cayman GT4 and granted, they are pretty evenly matched when it comes to hp and torque, but the two cars couldn’t be more different. However, if these two cars were to race, insiders have their money on BMW.

Hop inside and find three spoke steering wheel, sport seats up front in black Dakota leather with the M logo embossed under the headrests, a leather steering wheel, a user friendly instrument panel with large and easy to read dials and a carbon fiber dashboard. Standard wheels are 19″ M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style 437 M which adds to the beauty and tough look of this M Series.

2016 BMW M2

With a more aggressive stance, thanks to flared fenders while the revised bumper is enough to turn this car into a tough looking little coupe thanks to its massive air intakes, honeycomb grille, and sculpted aero add-ons. Walk around to the back and you will find a trunk mounted spoiler, four exhaust tips and a gloss black air diffuser. Perhaps most noticeable is its low to the ground stance which gives the car a sportier look.  Available in only four colors, Long Beach Blue Metallic, Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, and Mineral Grey, it was probably a mistake on the company’s part to limit the colors to four choices.  I mean most BMW’s come in at least 6 colors. But if that was their only mistake, I’d say they are doing a good job.

Expect the M2 to be released in late 2016 at a cost of $50,000 give or take.
