The Bugatti Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel: Inspired by the French Skies
During the 20th century, France dominated in aviation and automotive, as they marched on the forefront of technology, speed and courage across Europe. Amidst world war, the French had a glow of futuristic brilliance, which Ettore Bugatti contributed to in a significant way. He was fascinated by the speed and agility flying through the sky, and tried to mimic that energy on the road with his Bugatti race car.
The latest limited edition spinoff of the Bugatti Chiron is the Bugatti Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel (meaning, “the legends of the sky”) recreates the bond between Ettore Bugatti and France’s heroic pilots and race car drivers of the 20th century. Styled in a sleek Gris Serpent (matte gray) color as tribute to the stoic steel of the 1920’s air crafts, this design breathes life back into some of France’s most influential years on the road and in the sky. There’s also a contrasting white stripe running from the tip to tale that cuts through the “sky view” glass roof.
On the inside, this supercar is an amazing blend of retro luxury. Sink into a hazel-colored gaucho leather that was inspired by the natural leather look of the 1900’s aircrafts along with an aluminum inlay to contrast the rich material. To match the front fenders, there’s a unique etching of a plane propellor wrapped in the words Les Légendes du Ciel scattered around the interior of the car. There’s even a hand-sketched racing scene between the Bugatti Type 13 and the Nieuport 17 Aircraft that will wisp drivers back to 20th century France—a country that was technologically far ahead of its time.
This iconic, emblematic race car clocks in a top speed of 261 miles per hour with 1500 horsepower and 1,180 lb of torque—all while making a mad dash to 60mph in just 2.33 seconds. With only 20 for sale in the world, the Bugatti Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel is set at a jaw-dropping price of $3.4 million dollars with deliveries due for early 2021.
