Porsche! You done real good this time, real good. Contrary to, not popular, but prominent belief not everybody hated the Panamera. Though, looking mainly at the design of the outgoing model among other aspects there was a resounding consensus that they could have done better. Well ladies and gentlemen, they did better, much better, enter the 2017 Porsche Panamera.

The second generation sports sedan will come in two models, the 4S and the Turbo and Porsche promises to offer both the ‘performance of a sports car and the comfort of a luxury sedan.’ Revealed in Berlin to much deserved excitement, the Panamera, gorgeously reminiscent of the 911 is now powered by V6 and V8 twin turbo engines. Both the 4S and the Turbo come equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive system and a brand new eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission.

The Panamera Turbo which gets the V8, releases 550-hp at 5,750-rpm and a maximum torque of 567 pound-feet between 1,960-rpm and 4,500-rpm. The capabilities of this engine include a 0 to 60-mph sprint in 3.6 seconds; with the Sport Chrono package we complete that run in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is 190-mph.

The 4S gets a 2.9-litre V6, that develops a maximum of 440-hp at 5,650-rpm. We get 405 pound-feet of torque between 1,750-rpm and 5,500-rpm. With its new power the 4S completes the 0 to 60-mph run in 4.2 seconds with the standard fittings and 4.0 with the Sport Chrono package. It achieves a top speed of 180-mph.

Among the extensive list of changes the standard setup includes new electromechanical power steering, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the enhanced Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and active roll stabilization. Porsche is also working on the rear axle steering adapted from the 918 Spyder and 911 Turbo.

Porsche’s always cost a pretty penny. This new and improved line is no different. Base price for the 4S starts at $99,900 whereas the Turbo starts at $146,900. But, with all these changes though, totally worth it, right? Glad you agree. The Panamera will reach American shores in January 2017.
