The Hennessey HPE800 is an 804HP Mustang Monstrosity

Hennessey Mustang HPE800

If you even whisper the name Hennessey near an online automotive forum, expect it to erupt in chaos as fanboys and anti-fanboys go head-to-head. Why? Because you don’t get to the top without being controversial. Which is why the Texan tuner is again dropping jaws as it celebrates its 25th anniversary with an 804-horspower Mustang called the HPE800.

So how do you get to this performance monster? You take a standard Ford Mustang GT, add a dash of insanity, some badges, and you can take it right to the impound lot and yourself to jail. Actually, that is not how it works at all. So where does Hennessey start? With the engine, of course.

On top of the 5.0-liter V-8 engine sits a 2.9-liter supercharger, which, in addition to an axle-back exhaust, high-induction intake system, new fuel injectors and pump, and coil pack, take horsepower to 804 and torque to 648 pound-feet.

All that power translates over to some serious performance numbers. Zero-to-60 miles per hour takes 3.1 seconds. A quarter-mile run happens in 10.7 seconds. Obviously, those numbers are only achievable with the most perfect track conditions with an experienced driver behind the wheel.

Other upgrades include a lowered suspension, carbon-fiber exterior bits, and badges galore. Pricing has not been announced, but you will need a Mustang GT. Luckily, it does not matter if it is a coupe or convertible, or a manual or automatic. There was no word when the Hennessey Performance’s 25th Anniversary Edition HPE800 Mustang would be available, but we expect it by the end of the year.
