The Mercedes-Benz W 113 is a two-seat roadster/coup, introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, and produced from 1963 through 1971. It replaced both the legendary 300 SL and the 190 SL. Of the 48,912 W 113 SLs produced, 19,440 were sold in the US. The W 113 SL was developed under the auspices of Mercedes-Benz Technical Director Fritz Nallinger, Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut and Head of Styling Friedrich Geiger. The lead designers were Paul Bracq and Bla Barnyi, who created its distinctive, patented, slightly concave hardtop, which inspired the Pagoda nickname. All models were equipped with an inline-six cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. The bonnet, trunk lid, door skins and tonneau cover were made of aluminum to reduce weight. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful brakes and radial tires gave the W 113 superb handling for its time. The styling of the front, with its characteristic upright Bosch fishbowl headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel, paid homage to the then already legendary 300 SL roadster. Lamborghini Paramus is pleased to offer this highly desirable 1969 280SL convertible finished in Ivory over Black. Well cared for its entire life this car still retains its headlight notches which symbolize that the car has its original front fenders, a very desirable thing for a 280SL. This garage kept, two owner car has been loved and it shows. The interior is absolutely immaculate - no rips, tears or stains throughout. There is no rust on the car and the engine bay is exceptionally clean. The engine is numbers matching to the car which is a huge plus as well. The 2.8L straight six runs well but the best part is that it is mated to a manual gearbox, extremely rare for a 280SL. This gearbox adds a whole different caliber to the car, it takes the car from a Sunday Cruiser to a Sunday Sports Car. You will be smiling as you shift through the gears in this very rare 1969 280SL. Take a drive to Newport or The Hamptons and you will know you picked the perfect car. Mercedes are known for their reliability and safety, even in a vintage car. The car still retains its original Becker radio, spare tire, jack and hard top. This car is a time capsule and it is ready to be enjoyed by its new owners.
