Throughout history only a few iconic vehicle have been able to stay in continuous production to this date. A little more than a dozen cars from the 60's are still available for sale with the same design philosophies. The Ford Mustang is among the list of those vehicles. Produced in Dearborn, Michigan from 1965-1973 the first generation mustang was subject to record breaking sales. This propelled Ford with a winning formula and a recognizable classic. This 1966 Mustang Fastback was originally built at the San Jose, California, Ford plant and originally powered by an A-code 289ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor. A replacement trim tag has been fitted to the car, and the tag shown above decodes as follows: Body 63B – Two-door fastback, Color 4 – Silver Frost exterior finish, Trim 65 – Red interior, Date 11J – September 11 build date, DSO 71 – Los Angeles, California, district sales office, Axle 1 – 3.00:1 standard differential, Trans 5 – Four-speed manual transmission. Additional chassis supports have been added to compensate for the larger motor. All said and done, this is a superb concours quality restoration and sympathetic resto-mod of an original Fastback. Not too much, not too little, but just enough to enjoy around town, on back roads and for highway cruising. The Ford Mustang has stood the test of time and will continue to do so. This is an opportunity to purchase an iconic vehicle accompanied by full service and restoration records and well as ownership history. This Fastback is turn key and ready for immediate enjoyment.
