A Car beyond its Years
It is always a refreshing experience to get involved with cars using alternative fuel and getting involved with electric vehicles can be fun. With Tesla’s 2017 model, the X P 100D it is an experience beyond fun – it is downright exhilarating.
Performance Matters
I move to performance directly here because that is going to be the focal point for an electric car, considering that it is still a concept that needs much more exposure for people to start going electric in a big way. However, X P 100D seems to be the motivational factor for people to actually take this step, here’s why:
The 100 kWh battery of this car is huge and powerful, ensuring 0 to 100 kph in just 3.1 seconds – wow! And you thought that petrol engines could only give you that kind of power. With a top speed of 250 kph, you can be assured that you are in the fastest electric car ever. Just to illustrate the power of the 100D, although it is a regular SUV which seats seven, it is capable of outmaneuvering most petrol or diesel driven two-seater sports cars at a traffic signal.

The experience is further enhanced by putting the car into “ludicrous mode” which sets pre-programmed functions of the car into motion. However, be warned that the range is likely to drastically drop in this mode.
The big plus about the X P 100D is the range which gives 400 km between charges. This is a pretty acceptable range. Tesla has set up supercharger stations all over the US, giving the car the required range to cover most of the country except perhaps a couple of places like Arkansas, North Dakota and parts of New Mexico.
Design Considerations
As I said earlier, this isn’t a regular SUV. It is not only aesthetically designed but it has utility to match. Although classified as an SUV, it looks more like a coupé as first glance.
It is the falcon wing doors however, that deserve a special mention. This is a really cool innovation and well-thought out because they are not just designed for their looks. The doors are fitted with sensors which can prevent any damage to the doors, wherever they are opened while at the same time providing adequate space for passengers while entering or exiting the vehicle.
What is more, the wing doors are an excellent feature when it comes to accessing the doors in cramped parking spaces.
Interior Ambiance
The inside of the X P 100D is rather like a previous version by Tesla, the Model S. A massive 17-inch touch screen is comfortably accommodated due to the absence of a gearbox, extra luggage space is available under the comfortable bucket seats.
The combination of the high-end sound system with the silence of an electric car transforms the car into a mobile studio. You can sit back and relax with your favorite tracks or take a backseat while Tesla takes you through their own version of pre-loaded streaming music channels.
In Conclusion
Yes, it seems that the 2017 Tesla Model X P100D is here to stay, setting new records in every possible area and at a basic price of €191,000 ($208,414) in the Netherlands it is definitely not a common man’s vehicle.
