Mercedes-Benz and the DC Comic Universe
It is safe to say that we have gotten used to seeing our favorite heroes fighting crime and defending our—well their—streets in nothing less that the best that the luxury car industry has to offer. After all, they are human too, right? Well, most of them anyways. When Justice League hits theatres next month expect the members to be outfitted with nothing less than a fleet of Mercedes-Benz vehicles which has now become the luxury vehicle to have in the DC Universe.
E-Class Cabriolet
More than just perfect product placement but also a chance to show fans of the franchise and the car exactly what Mercedes-Benz is made of the 2018 E-Class cabriolet will make an appearance as the vehicle of choice for Diana Prince, more affectionately known to fans as Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot.
The belle of the ball at the Mercedes-Benz booth in March, the E-Class Cabriolet with its fluid design and attractive angles is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that is capable of 329-horsepower and 354 pound feet of torque. In the words of Gal Gadot in an interview on the Mercedes-Benz Youtube channel, the car is “elegant, not too flashy, chic and practical,” more than enough for the Amazonian Princess, yes?
AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept
In 2013 fans of the Gran Turismo franchise let out a collective shout of joy as Mercedes revealed their supercar concept designed exclusively for the—at the time—upcoming Gran Turismo 6 game. Well, fast forward 4 years and it seems Zack Snyder is abandoning Bruce Wayne’s 1957 Aston Martin DB Mark III that appeared in Batman vs. Superman for this European beauty.
Getting this car ready for production was quite project. The original concept was never meant for physical use as it was designed for the game so it was never a functioning vehicle. They created an interior, expanded the car to accommodate Ben Affleck’s lanky 6 ft 4” frame, outfitted it with racing seats and a virtual dashboard section. At the 2013 reveal, we were told that the concept should produce 577 horsepower and 590 pound feet of torque. We will have to wait until November to see if the onscreen performance comes close to what we might imagine based on these numbers, even so, Bruce Wayne might have just met his match.
G-Class 4×42
The role this off-roader is to play and the hands it will play it in has not been revealed. According to Motor Authority, Mercedes-Benz says that it will play an integral role, which tells us nothing! Patience is the virtue it seems we all need to adopt for the foreseeable future as these tidbits do nothing to relieve the excitement and calm the anticipation.
The power for the G-Class comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 matted to a 7-speed automatic transmission that is capable of 416 horsepower and 450 pound feet of torque.
Competition is rife within the superhero universe and this new marriage between DC and Mercedes-Benz serves to whet the appetite for Marvel’s next movie and possible partnership with their luxury vehicle brand of choice.
