Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro Takes it to the Next Level
The Mercedes-AMG GT lineup become a favorite among auto enthusiast, with many of them capable of keeping up with Porches and other super cars. However, the Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO takes performance to a whole new level, offering improved handling and speed on the track.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO is designed for one thing and one thing only: on track performance. This car is swift, nimble, and built for quick laps. Interestingly, the GT R PRO doesn’t lock up its need for speed with a more powerful engine. The engine cranks out the same 566bhp and 516 ft-lb as the GT R.
Yet the Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO is faster on the track. The GT R Pro was able to shave off six seconds lap time at Nordschleife PB compared to the normal GT R. Aerodynamics is improved with the car striving for a 50/50 aero balance. There’s extra down force as well, reaching nearly 99kg at 250km/h.
However, even with the improvements, the Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO lags behind the best that Porsche has to offer. The AMG itself is a rather large car and even with all the improvements, the AMG GT R PRO could be a bit more nimble.
Still, this car is a beast on the track. It’s track ready at pickup, coming with a role cage, fire extinguisher, and all the rest. Starting at just over 188,000 pounds, the Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO isn’t cheap. Of course, a lot is included in the package and track ready cars tend to be pricey.
