Audi Reveals Animated Supercar In New Movie
Animated Super Spy Lance Sterling, who is voiced by Will Smith, is going to be riding one cool whip in the upcoming “Spies in Disguise” flick. Audi has released a mock-up of the car, which is based on the Audi R8 e-Tron. Sterling’s animated hypercar is going under a different moniker, the RSQ e-Tron, but its heritage is obvious.
It’s interesting that Audi went with a digital car for their spy flick as well. Many action movies feature roaring big block engines, superchargers, and the like. However, Audi has committed to embracing the electric revolution, and the RSQ e-Tron reflects that commitment.
The Head of Exterior Design at Audi’s Studio 3, Frank Rimili, noted that “Audi takes a digital, forward-looking approach to the design process, both in developing fictional content and in the production modeling studio. At Audi Design, we combine state-of-the-art digital visualization techniques with handmade precision. These processes enable us to implement futuristic design ideas with the same precision in the development of a fictional virtual concept vehicle such as the RSQ e-Tron.”
If you follow spy films, then you know that cars are often stuffed with high tech gadgets. Popularized by the James Bond series, spy cars get upgrades that we never will. Some Bond cars doubled as submarines, for example. Flamethrowers and missiles are about as common as power windows as well.
We don’t know what “upgrades” the RSQ e-Tron will get but expect them to be out of this world.
