What makes for the ultimate grand tourer? This is up for debate, but Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann believes that the Chiron Super Sport fits the bill. Cranking out nearly 1,600 horsepower and over 1,000 ft-lbs of torque, the Super Sport is certainly no slouch. It’s also perhaps the best production iteration of the Bugatti Chiron for sale, arguably one of the greatest hypercars of all time.
The Chiron Super Sport may actually be the most powerful pure combustion hypercar ever put into production. Some electric and hybrid supercars might top the Super Sport in terms of torque and horsepower, but there’s a certain visceral feel that comes with combustion.
The Super Sport can hit 124 miles per hour in just 5.8 seconds. Not bad considering hitting 60 miles per hour in 6 seconds was pretty good for muscle cars and supercars in the 1980s. By the way, the Super Sport should comfortably reach 60 in less than 3 seconds. As for top speed, it’s electronically limited to 273 miles per hour.
Right now, all 9 Super Sports slotted for production are vouched for. More may become available but you’ll have to join a long waitlist.
That said, hundreds of Chirons have been made since 2016. They may not all be Super Sports, but you can rest assured that you’re getting a heck of a supercar if you pick up a Chiron. The 2018 Chiron Sport still cranks out 1,500 horsepower, for example, making a fine hypercar indeed.
