Ferrari 849 Testarossa: Power Meets Heritage

Ferrari 849 Testarossa

Ferrari has brought back the legendary Testarossa name, and this time it signals both a tribute to the past and a step into the future. The newly revealed Ferrari 849 Testarossa is a plug-in hybrid supercar that takes over from the SF90 Stradale as the brand’s latest flagship.

Powering the 849 is a re-engineered twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 producing 830 cv, an increase of 50 over its predecessor. This is paired with three electric motors that add another 220 cv, bringing total output to an astonishing 1,050 cv. The result is the most powerful Ferrari production car to date. Performance figures are equally jaw-dropping: 0 to 62 mph in under 2.3 seconds, 124 mph in just over 6 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph.

The design reinterprets the classic Testarossa spirit while pushing aerodynamics and performance forward. Influences from 1970s sports prototypes are clear in the sharp lines and bold stance. Ferrari engineers have introduced active aerodynamic elements that generate 415 kg of downforce at 155 mph, 25 kg more than the SF90. These updates make the 849 not only faster but also more composed at high speed. Inside, the cockpit takes a more driver-focused approach, replacing many touch surfaces with tactile buttons and introducing a new human-machine interface for better usability.

Deliveries will begin in Europe in mid-2026, with U.S. customers following later that year. Pricing starts at 460,000 euros for the coupe and 500,000 euros for the Spider, though U.S. buyers can expect higher costs due to tariffs.

The revival of the Testarossa name follows Ferrari’s successful legal battle to secure the trademark earlier this year, proving the company’s intent to bring the iconic moniker back in a meaningful way. By blending heritage with state-of-the-art hybrid technology, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa reclaims its place as a symbol of performance and innovation while honoring one of the most celebrated names in the brand’s history.
