Gordon Murray Automotive Unveils Convertible Supercar
Gordon Murray Automotive recently unveiled the Spider variant of its T.33 mid-engine supercar, and car enthusiasts are raving about it. The Spider version offers a more engaging and visceral driving experience, making it a must-have for those who love the thrill of driving. With the roof removed, the driver and passenger can feel the car’s distinct naturally aspirated V12 engine, which is music to any car enthusiast’s ears.
Gordon Murray Automotive did not simply chop off the roof to create the Spider. Instead, they made significant modifications to maintain the car’s look and capabilities, which shows their dedication to producing high-quality vehicles. They opted for removable carbon-fiber targa panels instead of a power-folding roof, which keeps the car’s weight as low as possible. Moreover, they pushed the windshield header forward slightly and added material to the rocker panels to increase chassis rigidity. All of these modifications make the Spider just 40 pounds heavier than the coupe, without sacrificing its design and performance.
Gordon Murray’s T.50 Hypercar Revealed
The T.33 Spider is powered by a mid-mounted 4.0-liter Cosworth-built V12 engine, which is left untouched from the coupe version. The engine delivers 607 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque to the rear axle through a six-speed manual transmission, providing an exhilarating driving experience. Unlike the coupe version, the Spider comes exclusively with a manual gearbox, demonstrating Gordon Murray Automotive’s commitment to producing vehicles that cater to car enthusiasts’ desires.
The T.33 Spider is priced at £1.89 million (about $2.36 million), and only 100 examples will be produced. Half of the units are already spoken for, which speaks volumes about the demand for Gordon Murray Automotive’s supercars. The Spider is a remarkable vehicle that combines advanced engineering, powerful performance, and bespoke craftsmanship, making it a must-have for car enthusiasts who appreciate the thrill of driving a supercar.
