Gordon Murray’s T.50 Hypercar Revealed

Gordon Murray is already one of the most respected people in the hypercar industry, having designed the famed McLaren F1 back in 1992. The McLaren F1 is considered one of the greatest supercars of all time, and some even argue it’s the greatest supercar period. However, the upcoming T.50, which is being launched under Murray’s own brand and badge, might just give the McLaren F1 a run for its money.

You can clearly see the influence of the McLaren F1 in the T.50, but Murray himself claims that the T.50 will improve on all aspects of the earlier McLaren. Technology has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 30 years, so no doubt substantial improvements are possible, even when we’re taking about an all-time great car.

The T.50 is a three-seater, set up in an arrowhead shape. The driver sits front and center, while two passengers can sit behind. Performance numbers aren’t known yet and likely won’t be known until drivers get their hands on the T.50 and can take it for a spin. Murray refused to set top speed or acceleration targets. Still, weighing just 2,173 pounds and with at least 700 horsepower, the T.50 is expected to be blazing fast.

The T.50 also features a unique but brilliant ground-effect fan that will help keep this hypercar stuck to the ground. Production is expected to begin in January 2022 and the lucky hundred purchasers can travel to Surrey for a cabin fitting and to meet Murray himself.
