Jaguar I-Pace EV Concept Shows Automakers Electric Future
It was until recently Jaguar entered the crossover market—a segment ripe for growth and profits. While the F-Pace may be fresh, the British automaker is eager to forge forward with an electric SUV. Jaguar showed off what it thinks an EV crossover could look like at the Los Angeles auto show with the I-Pace EV concept.
What we have here is an EV with a 220-mile range with a zero-to-60 mph time of around four seconds. It won’t be slow. The underpinnings are like the skateboard design of EVs, allowing the platform to underpin a wide range of body styles.

Even as a concept, the I-Pace looks ready for the road—from the exterior styling to the instrument panel. The I-Pace forgoes many concept clichés and instead goes for what looks like production-ready elements.
As with the design and how much of the concept feels real, what you see here is likely what we will get on dealer lots sooner rather than later. The automaker says we will see a production version by the end of 2017—we suspect the 2017 LA Auto Show—with the crossover hitting production sometime in 2018.
