Lykan Hypersport: First Arab Supercar

If you’re already driving around in a high-end sports car — perhaps a Pagani Huayra, Koenigsegg Agera, or even a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport — W Motors has something that goes beyond jaw-dropping horsepower figures, top speeds and zero-to-60 acceleration times: it has the ultimate bling machine. The $3.4 million Lykan Hypersport is the world’s first Arab supercar, and it pretties up with diamonds and gold.
Years ago, a then 22-year-old Ralph R. Debbas started a Dubai-based automotive company known as W Motors — with the W representing his childhood nickname “Wolf” — according to CNN. So far, only one model has surfaced: the Lykan Hypersport — limited to just seven units.
The rear-drive coupe features a carbon composite body, and the kind of sharp styling you would expect from a $3 million-plus supercar. Business Insider says the model is equipped with a Porsche-sourced 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six-cylinder coupled to one of two transmission options: a six-speed sequential or seven speed PDK gearbox. The engine — according to Road and Track — is good for a total 770 horsepower and 708 pound-feet of torque.
As a result, you can expect the usual (impressive) supercar-style figures: a top speed of 240 miles per hour — based on the carmaker’s vehicle specifications — and a zero-to-62 acceleration time of 2.8 seconds — which CNN says is “faster than the power-focused Lamborghini Aventador.” And yet, the most interesting aspect of the Lykan Hypersport cannot be found under the hood, but rather, on the car and inside the cabin.
Let’s start with the exterior: the front lights — titanium LED blades — feature 420 diamonds (15 carats), because…why the heck not? “Diamonds in the headlights are something we don’t need at all, actually. It was a true marketing gimmick that we integrated. But people talk about it,” said Debbas, according to CNN. But wait — there’s also the interior — where you’ll find dual-tone leather with gold wire stitching, and a holographic display system.
However, the best part of all has to be the 24-hour concierge service and the flying doctors — the last of which is a team of engineers that will actually go to you — anywhere in the world — to service your supercar.
That, my friend, is luxury at its finest.
The automaker’s next model, according to Motor Authority, will be a $1.6 million Supersport supercar.
